Question 1

How much does furnace repair cost in Snohomish County?

Accepted Answer

Our furnace diagnostic is $69 and is applied toward any repair we perform. Common furnace repairs range from $150–$600 for parts like igniters, flame sensors, and control boards. More complex repairs involving heat exchangers or blower motors can run $400–$1,200. We give you a written estimate before any work begins — no surprises. If the repair cost approaches the value of a new system, we'll tell you honestly.

Question 2

How much does furnace installation cost in Snohomish County?

Accepted Answer

Most furnace replacements in Snohomish County run $3,500–$8,500 installed, depending on the efficiency rating, brand, home size, and any needed ductwork or venting changes. We give you a written, itemized estimate before any work begins — no surprises. Call or schedule a free estimate and we'll walk you through the exact cost for your home.

Question 3

Why is my furnace blowing cold air?

Accepted Answer

Cold air from a furnace is usually caused by a faulty igniter, a tripped limit switch, a dirty filter restricting airflow, or a thermostat issue. We can typically diagnose and fix this in a single visit. Call 425-610-6635 or book online.

Question 4

Why does my furnace keep turning on and off?

Accepted Answer

Short-cycling is often caused by a dirty air filter, an overheating heat exchanger, or a faulty flame sensor. Left unchecked it stresses the system and raises your energy bill. Our $69 diagnostic pinpoints the cause.

Question 5

Should I repair or replace my furnace?

Accepted Answer

If your furnace is under 15 years old and the repair cost is less than half the cost of a new system, repair usually makes sense. If it's over 15 years old, requiring frequent repairs, or the heat exchanger is cracked, replacement is often the smarter investment. We give you an honest assessment — we will never push a replacement you don't need.

Question 6

How long does a furnace last?

Accepted Answer

Most furnaces last 15–20 years with proper maintenance. Annual tune-ups, regular filter changes, and prompt repairs extend that lifespan. If yours is over 15 years old and requiring frequent repairs, replacement is often the more cost-effective choice.

Question 7

What AFUE rating should I choose for a new furnace?

Accepted Answer

AFUE measures how efficiently a furnace converts fuel to heat. Standard efficiency is 80% AFUE; high efficiency is 96–98% AFUE. For most Snohomish County homes, a 96% AFUE furnace hits the sweet spot between upfront cost and long-term energy savings. We'll help you calculate the payback period for your specific situation.

Question 8

How much does AC repair cost in Snohomish County?

Accepted Answer

Our diagnostic is $69 and is applied toward the repair. Common AC repairs — capacitors, contactors, refrigerant recharge, fan motors — typically range from $150–$600. We provide a written quote before any work begins.

Question 9

Why is my AC not cooling the house?

Accepted Answer

Common causes include a dirty air filter, low refrigerant, a failed capacitor or contactor, a frozen evaporator coil, or a failing compressor. Our $69 diagnostic identifies the exact cause so you know what you're dealing with before committing to a repair.

Question 10

How much does AC installation cost in Snohomish County?

Accepted Answer

A standard central AC installation typically ranges from $3,500–$8,000 installed, depending on system size, efficiency rating, and whether ductwork modifications are needed. We provide a free, detailed estimate so you know exactly what to expect before committing.

Question 11

Should I repair or replace my AC?

Accepted Answer

If your AC is over 12–15 years old, requires frequent repairs, or uses R-22 refrigerant (which is no longer manufactured), replacement is usually the better investment. Our $69 diagnostic gives you an honest assessment so you can make an informed decision.

Question 12

What SEER2 rating should I choose for my Snohomish County home?

Accepted Answer

SEER2 measures cooling efficiency — higher is better. For Snohomish County, we typically recommend 16–18 SEER2 systems for the best balance of upfront cost and long-term savings. We'll help you calculate the payback period for your specific usage.

Question 13

Do heat pumps work in cold Snohomish County winters?

Accepted Answer

Yes — modern heat pumps work efficiently down to 0°F or below, and some cold-climate models operate at -13°F. Our Pacific Northwest winters rarely reach those extremes, so a heat pump is an excellent primary heating source for most Snohomish County homes throughout the entire heating season.

Question 14

Are heat pumps worth it in Washington State?

Accepted Answer

Yes — heat pumps are an excellent choice for most Snohomish County homeowners. Washington's mild winters mean a heat pump can handle most heating loads efficiently. Puget Sound Energy and Snohomish County PUD offer rebates of $500–$2,000+ for qualifying heat pump installations. Federal IRA tax credits for heat pumps expired after December 31, 2025 — utility rebates remain available. Combined with lower operating costs, most homeowners see a payback period of 5–10 years depending on their current heating costs and usage.

Question 15

How much does heat pump installation cost in Snohomish County?

Accepted Answer

Heat pump installation in Snohomish County typically costs $5,000–$12,000 installed, depending on the size of your home, the type of system (ducted vs. ductless), and the efficiency rating. After utility rebates ($500–$2,000), the net cost is often $3,000–$11,000. We provide free estimates and will help you identify all available rebates.

Question 16

Can I replace my gas furnace with a heat pump?

Accepted Answer

Yes — a heat pump can replace your furnace and provide both heating and cooling. We'll evaluate your existing ductwork and electrical service to ensure compatibility. In some cases, a small electrical panel upgrade is needed to support the heat pump's power requirements.

Question 17

What is the difference between a heat pump and a furnace?

Accepted Answer

A furnace generates heat by burning fuel (gas or oil). A heat pump moves heat — it extracts heat from outdoor air and transfers it inside in winter, and reverses the process in summer for cooling. Heat pumps are typically 2–4x more efficient than electric resistance heat and provide both heating and cooling in one system.

Question 18

What counts as an HVAC emergency?

Accepted Answer

A true HVAC emergency is any situation that poses a safety risk or leaves your home dangerously cold or hot. This includes: no heat when outdoor temps are below 35°F, a gas smell near your furnace, carbon monoxide detector activation, a furnace that won't shut off, or a refrigerant leak. Call 425-610-6635 immediately for any of these.

Question 19

How quickly can you respond to a no-heat emergency?

Accepted Answer

We do our best to schedule within 24–48 hours, and many customers get same-day or next-day service. For true emergencies — no heat in freezing weather, gas smell, CO alarm — call 425-610-6635 directly and we'll prioritize your call.

Question 20

My furnace smells like gas — what should I do?

Accepted Answer

Leave the house immediately. Do not turn any lights or switches on or off. Call your gas utility (Puget Sound Energy: 1-888-225-5773) from outside or a neighbor's home. Once the utility clears the scene, call us at 425-610-6635 to diagnose and repair the furnace.

Question 21

My carbon monoxide detector went off — is my furnace dangerous?

Accepted Answer

Treat every CO alarm as a real emergency. Evacuate immediately, call 911, and do not re-enter until emergency responders clear the building. A cracked heat exchanger is the most common furnace-related CO source. Call us after the building is cleared — we'll inspect the heat exchanger and determine if repair or replacement is needed.

Question 22

What should I do while waiting for an HVAC technician in winter?

Accepted Answer

Use electric space heaters in the rooms you're occupying — keep them away from flammable materials and never leave them unattended. Close off unused rooms to concentrate heat. If temps drop below 40°F inside, consider staying with family or at a hotel. Keep cabinet doors under sinks open to prevent pipe freezing.

Question 23

Do you offer financing for HVAC systems?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we offer financing through Synchrony Financial for qualifying customers. Options include deferred interest promotions and fixed monthly payment plans. You can apply online at synchrony.com/marketplace/heating-and-air-conditioning or ask us when you schedule your free estimate.

Question 24

What financing terms are available through Synchrony?

Accepted Answer

Synchrony offers several options including 6, 12, and 18-month deferred interest promotions (no interest if paid in full within the promotional period) and fixed-payment installment plans. Terms and availability vary — ask us for current promotions when you get your estimate.

Question 25

Are there rebates available for HVAC systems in Washington State?

Accepted Answer

Yes — significant utility rebates are available. Puget Sound Energy offers $500–$1,200 for qualifying heat pump installations. Snohomish County PUD offers rebates of $500–$2,000 for heat pumps and ductless mini-splits. Federal IRA tax credits for heat pumps and high-efficiency furnaces expired after December 31, 2025 — utility rebates remain available. We'll help you identify all rebates you qualify for during your free estimate.

Question 26

How do I apply for utility rebates?

Accepted Answer

We handle the rebate paperwork as part of every qualifying installation. You don't need to navigate the utility's website on your own — we identify what you're eligible for, fill out the forms, and submit them on your behalf.

Question 27

What is the $69 diagnostic fee?

Accepted Answer

Our $69 diagnostic covers a full system inspection and diagnosis. If you proceed with a repair, the $69 is applied toward the repair cost — so you're not paying just to find out what's wrong. If you decide not to repair, you only pay the $69.
