The Challenge
The home had never had air conditioning. The existing ductwork was in good condition but sized for a gas furnace, not a heat pump. The homeowner also wanted to understand the rebate process and whether the electrical panel could support a heat pump without an upgrade.
Our Solution
We performed a free in-home assessment and load calculation. The existing ductwork was compatible with no modifications needed. The electrical panel had sufficient capacity. We recommended a Rheem 18 SEER2 / 9.5 HSPF2 heat pump — a strong performer for the Pacific Northwest climate. We also identified a $1,200 Snohomish County PUD rebate and a federal tax credit worth up to 30% of the installation cost, significantly reducing the homeowner's out-of-pocket expense.
The Result
Installation was completed in one day. The homeowner now has efficient heating and cooling from a single system. Based on their previous gas bills, we estimate annual heating cost savings of 25–35%. They experienced their first air-conditioned summer in the home that same year.
